Year 1 - Seasonal Changes

Year 1

This term, we have been learning all about the seasons and seasonal changes. We started by looking at how the environment was changing around us as the season changed to Autumn.

First we went on a leaf hunt to look at a key change during Autumn and we studied the different colours of the leaves as the weeks went by.

We have also been looking at rainfall and tracking how much rain has fallen in the past weeks.

Now we will be keeping an eye out for any changes as we get into Winter!

On Thursday 10th November, all the pupils from Selby Abbey Primary School participated in our school Enterprise Day. In the weeks leading up to Enterprise Day, each class used their creative skills to create something to sell.  The afternoon was a huge success celebrating all the hard work the children had put in. In total, a huge £497.80 was raised! We would like to thank all parents and carers for their support and congratulate the children on all their hard work.

60s Theme

Throughout the past few weeks of year five, we have been focusing on all about the 1960's. We are thrilled to hear that we are having our very own 60's day. We will be singing songs from the Monkeys to the Beatles. Then we will be tasting 1960's treats to eat which we will be looking forward to (I hope that they are tasty!) Please come and see us performing our songs at 3pm on Thursday in the hall.
Today is our 60s day and here are our outfits!

Multiplication in Year 4

This week in Year 4, we have being practising our times tables and mental techniques for multiplication.

We then began looking at using a written method for multiplication. Miss Palfreeman and Mrs Sullivan even let us draw on the....tables!

We are now beginning to feel confident with this method :)
